What kind of support do you need to blossom as a mother?
Motherhood is a challenge for many, many women. You are not alone in that! And you are so not meant to be facing the challenges alone either.
Many mothers experience struggles when their babies are born, and these struggles may continue (and new ones may come!) for years. Post-partum depression and anxiety are at an all-time high. Many mothers feel pressure from friends, family and society to be a PERFECT mom--doing so much for their children, husband, and maintaining a perfect house, too. This often ends up resulting in guilt, shame, stress, overwhelm and exhaustion.
In the absence of a supportive community (the situation for most mothers in the Western world), many mothers find themselves spending most of their time at home with their baby or children. Are you feeling lonely, disconnected from the adult world, disconnected from your former job and purpose?
I know how hard it can be. I've experienced much of it myself.
AND I know it doesn't have to be that way.
I've learned and grown and I want that for you, too!
You don't have to be alone. There are tools and support out there to help you re-connect to yourself and others. To help you deal with the stress, overwhelm and frustration you're feeling.
I started my counselling practice specifically to support mothers like you to HAVE A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. A joyful experience. A connected experience. A peaceful, loving experience.
When you are at your best, you will find it easier to connect to your children. And that's what they need most from you: YOU at your best! A mother who is present, peaceful, and able to connect from a loving, centered place.
I offer workshops (through a partnership with my trusted colleague, Theresa Gulliver) as well as individual and group counselling for moms. Counselling services are offered Online using Zoom as well as out of my Penticton, BC office.
If you are interested in joining a dynamic online workshop to learn about relevant topics for mothers and learn tools to help you have a better experience on your motherhood journey,
check out my latest workshops here.
If you are interested in diving even deeper into your own personal growth to become the best WOMAN and MOTHER you can be (for yourself AND your children!) consider
individual or group counselling.
Which style is best? It depends on your budget and your preference.
Support groups offer connection and community and the opportunity to learn from others' experiences. You will learn that you are truly never alone in your struggles! Moms learn from each other, giving and receiving support, all while being supported by two professional counsellors.
Individual counselling allows you to delve deep into your own struggles and look at how unhelpful beliefs you are holding about yourself and your life are holding you back. You will develop awareness and tools to shift and break free from patterns that may have started in your childhood or even were passed down to you from previous generations.
Some mothers benefit from both individual and group counselling.
If you live in the Penticton, BC area, you can see me on Mondays at my office at Suite 200- 151 Front Street.
If you live elsewhere in the world, you can participate in 1-1 counselling and support groups using free, secure and simple to use online video conferencing software (Zoom or Skype). Online counselling is especially convenient for new moms because you don't have to leave your house. It also allows you to participate from anywhere in the world regardless of where you live.
Relax in the comfort of your own home... come to counselling in your pajamas with a cup of tea! Even if you don't have childcare during a session, some moms come while their baby naps or plays beside them.
Katherine has been a steady source of support for me for more than two years, through several major life transitions including a baby, an illness and a move across the country.
As a mom, I find the online format very convenient, and I love that I can still meet Katherine no matter where in the world I happen to be.
She has consistently provided a safe and nonjudgmental environment to explore all aspects of myself, and I always finish our sessions feeling truly heard and understood exactly where I am at.
She is a patient, open-minded, empathetic and a very skilled counsellor.
I cannot recommend her highly enough!"
