Support Groups
for Mothers
(Group Therapy)

Are you yearning for more support and community in your life?

Are you looking for a safe place to express how you're truly, authentically feeling?

Are you looking for a sisterhood to walk alongside you on your motherhood journey? Celebrate and be celebrated when times go well. Hold and support each other when times are tough.

Are you looking for professional counselling support at a very affordable cost?

Motherhood can often feel exhausting, overwhelming and lonely. You're with people (little people!) a lot, but sometimes you just need other moms to talk to. Moms going through the same struggles, having the same fears... finding out you're not alone.

The moms at the park are great to chat with about how little sleep you got last night, and how your 1 year-old just took his first steps. But what about the deeper stuff? Who do you turn to when you've been crying non-stop because you and your partner keep fighting? Or how you've been yelling at your toddler and you're afraid you're going to mess her up (just like when you were a child and your mom yelled at you a lot...) Or that you're so anxious about going back to work and leaving your baby at daycare.

That's the purpose of a support group- a SAFE place where you can bring it ALL. And sometimes we also talk about the lighter stuff:) And we celebrate the good times and cheer for each other when things go well!

Whether you have a new baby or your children are older, motherhood can be really hard sometimes! Having support makes it SO much easier. Mothers who feel a sense of belonging and support are mothers who thrive and blossom!

You were never meant to do it alone. There are so many benefits to having a community behind you! You end up feeling calmer and more supported. And when you're feeling good about your life, you can model that to your children. They feel your energy shifting. They see you being more patient and relaxed when you're with them. They see you embracing your imperfection and practicing emotional responsibility. Then they learn how to be that way too!

Share your struggles and find support and understanding. Celebrate your wins with a community of others mothers. Be supported by a professional counsellor (who's also a mother and GETS it!) Learn new information and tools to help you feel whole, alive and fulfilled as a woman and mother.

Who you are deeply impacts your children. Way more than any parenting books you've read, any tricks or behavioural strategies you've tried, or anything you tell them.

Finding support is key to being at your best as a mother.

WHAT ARE GROUP SESSIONS LIKE?

The focus is on connection - with yourself and each other. You are encouraged to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable about what is currently going on for you personally and as a mother. It is a SAFE, non-judgmental space where support and encouragement are paramount.

Each group session lasts 1.5 hours. We start each group with a check-in round. Everyone has the opportunity to share for a few minutes how they're doing and feeling. Then (depending on time) several people have the opportunity to delve deeper into what they're feeling or facing. I will often lead a therapeutic process, and the rest of the group will provide encouragement and support. This is powerful work and is an important step in personal growth and deep healing. Even those watching often learn and grow from the experience. There is an important discovery to be made:
We are not alone in our struggles.

The last half-hour of the group is devoted to discussion of topics related to motherhood. We explore issues such as changes in identity, relationships, self care, intimacy and whatever the group is experiencing at that time. There is opportunity for deep, rich conversation and sharing about issues that affect us all.
I share insights and knowledge about the natural changes of motherhood and you are left feeling informed and inspired to continue on your journey knowing you are fully supported along the way.

Through it all you are fully supported by an experienced Registered Therapeutic Counsellor who is also a mother.

I believe we all deserve to feel whole, alive, and fulfilled. It's SO important to create community to thrive!

Support groups a great way for moms of all stages to connect and share experiences of motherhood, and to receive support from a skilled counsellor who is also a mama.

I really enjoy the group session format, not only because it is more affordable than one-on-one sessions, but also because the interaction between participants can be so powerfully healing.

I very quickly felt connected to the other mamas in the group, because although we were in different parts of the world, we related to each other's struggles and wins.

I was touched by the other mamas' stories and vulnerable sharing, and it made me feel that I was safe to let myself be seen too.
